Missouri AI and Privacy Laws

Missouri has no AI-specific law and no comprehensive consumer privacy law.

What the law says

A 2026 bill (HB 1887) that would have made sharing harmful deepfakes a felony, barred AI from posing as a mental health professional, and added youth social media rules passed the House 145-3 but did not pass the Senate before the session ended May 15, 2026.

Existing consumer protection, civil rights, and data breach laws still apply to AI use.

What this means for your organization

This state has no AI-specific rules for organizations yet. General consumer protection, civil rights, and privacy laws still apply to AI use, and federal rules and other states’ laws may reach you.

Our 2027 AI Governance Checklist covers the steps most organizations need, and our State AI Law Trackers explain the rules for specific industries.
