Arizona AI and Privacy Laws

Arizona has no broad AI law or consumer privacy law.

What the law says

HB 2175, in effect since July 1, 2026, requires an insurer’s medical director to individually review medical necessity claim denials and prior authorization denials rather than relying solely on another source’s recommendation.

Earlier laws address deceptive deepfakes, including in elections, and treat AI-generated child sexual abuse images the same as real ones.

In June 2026 the governor vetoed several AI bills, including chatbot safety rules for minors.

What this means for your organization

This state regulates specific uses of AI rather than AI in general. Check whether any of your AI uses fall into the categories above, such as chatbots, synthetic media, or AI in health coverage decisions, and remember that federal law and the laws of other states where you operate may also apply.

Our 2027 AI Governance Checklist covers the steps most organizations need, and our State AI Law Trackers explain the rules for specific industries.
